Best Time to Visit the Golden Triangle: A Month-by-Month Guide
Best time to visit Delhi, Agra and Jaipur month by month: weather, winter fog, summer heat, monsoon, crowds and the months that suit a first trip.

The best time to visit the Golden Triangle is from October to March, when days are mild and the sky is mostly clear. It is also the busiest season, so book early.
The rest of the year is hotter or wetter, and each month has its own advantages and risks. This guide goes through them.

Months | Weather | Crowds | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
October to November | Warm days, pleasant evenings | Rising | Clear skies, Diwali crowds |
December to January | Cool days, cold mornings | Peak | Fog can delay flights and trains |
February to March | Warm and clear | Busy, easing | Holi in March |
April to June | Very hot | Low | Early starts, low rates |
July to September | Humid with rain | Low | Green, with some monument closures |
October and November
The best months for a first trip. The heat has gone, the air is clearer and the days are comfortable. Diwali falls in this period, with lights and crowds, and the days around it are busy and noisy.
December and January
Peak season. Days are mild, but mornings and nights can be cold. Fog is common in north India, especially in the early morning and late evening, and it sometimes delays flights and trains. Build a buffer into your plans, and keep the Taj Mahal sunrise flexible.
February and March
Warm, dry and clear. It is a good balance of weather and crowds. Holi, usually in March, is colourful and chaotic. Many shops close, and travel is difficult on the day, so plan a quiet stay in your hotel.
April to June
Very hot, often above 40 degrees in the afternoon, with dust and glare. Monuments are best visited at opening time. The reward is low rates and smaller crowds. Carry water, wear light clothes and rest in the afternoon.
July to September
The monsoon arrives with humidity and heavy showers, though rain is often in short bursts. The landscape is green and the air is cleaner. Some outdoor sights are less comfortable, but the crowds thin out, and rates are lower.
Which month for which sight

Our advice
For a first trip, aim for late October to early March. If you can choose, go in February. If you must travel in summer, plan early mornings and afternoon rests.
