Seven days is the length at which the Andamans stop feeling like a rush. You can see the capital, spend several nights on Havelock, visit Neil and still make time for the Baratang caves, with a buffer for weather.

This plan uses four bases and keeps the busiest ferry days apart.

Days 1 and 2: Port Blair

Land, and visit the jail in the afternoon. See the Cellular Jail show guide. Use the second day for either Baratang, a long and adventurous day, or Jolly Buoy, which is calmer. See the Baratang guide and the marine park guide.

Days 3 to 5: Havelock

Take the morning ferry and rest. Go to Radhanagar for the late afternoon. Use the second day for the water: Elephant Beach, a boat ride and snorkelling. Keep the third day easy, with Kalapathar at sunrise, then kayaking or a dive. See the Radhanagar guide, the Elephant Beach guide, the Kalapathar guide and the kayaking guide.

Day 6: Neil

Take the morning ferry. Swim at Bharatpur in the morning and watch the sunset at Laxmanpur. See the Bharatpur guide and the Laxmanpur guide.

Day 7: departure

Take the morning ferry back to Port Blair and fly out in the afternoon. Book a flight after 1 pm.

Why this split works

Port Blair has two nights because Baratang or Jolly Buoy needs a full day. Havelock has three nights because it has the best beaches and the most to do. Neil has one night, since it is small. See the stay guide.

The buffer

Weather can cancel ferries. Keep Day 7 as your safety margin, with a flight in the afternoon. If a ferry is cancelled, drop Neil and stay a night longer on Havelock. See our ferry guide.

Shorter options

See the 3-night, 4-night and 5-night plans.

Best season

October to May. See the best time guide.
