Three nights is the minimum for the Andamans. It is tight, but it can be a good trip if you go in with a short list and accept that you will not see everything.

This plan uses two bases, Port Blair and Havelock, and leaves Neil Island out so you are not spending the trip on ferries.

Ferry to Port Blair, flight out in the afternoon

Day 1: Port Blair

Arrive, check in and go to the Cellular Jail in the afternoon. Stay for the light and sound show if it runs that evening. If you land early, see the Port Blair half-day guide.

Day 2: to Havelock

Take a morning ferry to Havelock and reach the island by late morning. Rest, then go to Radhanagar Beach for the afternoon and sunset. See the Radhanagar guide.

Day 3: Havelock

Use the day for the water. Elephant Beach is the usual choice for snorkelling and a boat ride. See the Elephant Beach guide. Spend the evening on the beach.

Day 4: back to Port Blair

Take an early ferry and fly out in the afternoon. Book your flight for after 1 pm, since ferries can run late.

What this plan leaves out

  • Neil Island: it needs an extra night. See the 4-night itinerary.

  • Ross Island and North Bay: a half-day that does not fit unless you arrive early.

  • Baratang and the limestone caves: a full day.

Ferry timing is the main risk

A cancelled ferry can break a short trip. Do not book a flight out on the morning of your last ferry. Our ferry guide explains the options and the need for a buffer.

Is it worth doing in 4 days?

Yes, if you accept the pace. If you can add one or two days, the trip improves a lot. See the 6-day itinerary and our guide on how many days to allow.
