Dhordo At A Glance

Dhordo, Gujarat, is a small Kutch village at the edge of the Great Rann of Kutch. Beyond it, the white salt desert runs to the horizon. It is the gateway to one of India's most surreal landscapes. The Rann is a seasonal salt marsh. After the monsoon it dries into a flat, pale crust. At dusk the sky turns copper, then violet. On clear moonlit nights the whole plain glows. Each winter the Rann Utsav tent city rises near Dhordo. The festival typically runs from about November into February. Expect Kutchi folk music, craft stalls and camel rides. Dates change every year, so confirm them before you book. Dhordo lies roughly 80 km from Bhuj, about 90 minutes to two hours by road. Carry photo ID for the checkpoint at Khavda. Foreign guests need a permit. We arrange it, and time your visit for the best light. Nights are cold in winter, so pack warm layers.

Rann Utsav Tent City

This is a tented city at the edge of the White Rann. It rises each winter for the Rann Utsav festival. The 2026-27 season runs from 1 November to 7 March. Gujarat Tourism appoints the operator. Tents are large and well finished. The Rajwadi Suite covers 900 square feet. The Darbari Suite covers 1,600 square feet with two bedrooms. Both have air conditioning, heating, a living room and a private dining area. Each has a campfire sit-out outside. Sandstone arches and carved jali frame the entrance. Evenings bring folk music and lantern light. Days belong to the salt flats. Your guide times the visit for sunset and full-moon nights. Book early. This is the season's most sought-after address in Kutch.
