Andaman in 6 Days: Port Blair, Havelock and Neil Island
A 6-day Andaman itinerary with Port Blair, Havelock and Neil Island: day-by-day plan, ferry timing, where to stay, what to skip and how to adjust for weather.

Six days is a good length for the Andamans. It is long enough to see three islands without two ferry mornings on consecutive days, and short enough to fit a normal leave.
The thing that breaks Andaman plans is the ferry. Each island change costs most of a morning, so the order matters more than the number of sights. This plan puts the ferries where they cost the least.

Radhanagar Beach early in the morning.
The plan at a glance
Day | Where | What to do |
|---|---|---|
1 | Port Blair | Arrive, Cellular Jail, the light and sound show |
2 | Havelock | Morning ferry, beach afternoon |
3 | Havelock | Radhanagar at sunrise or sunset, Elephant Beach |
4 | Neil Island | Ferry in the morning, beaches and the natural bridge |
5 | Neil to Port Blair | Ferry, Ross Island or a city half-day |
6 | Port Blair | Departure |
This is a 5-night, 6-day plan with two nights on Havelock, one on Neil and two in Port Blair. The ferries and the weather decide the details.
Day by day
Day 1: Port Blair
Most flights land in the morning or early afternoon. Use the first day for the island's history. The Cellular Jail and Ross Island guide explains the order, and the evening light and sound show is worth keeping. Book it in advance in peak season.
Day 2: To Havelock
Take a morning ferry to Havelock. The crossing is usually between 1.5 and 2.5 hours depending on the operator and the vessel. Check in, rest, then take a short evening walk. Our Havelock vs Neil guide helps you decide how to split your nights.
Day 3: Havelock's best day
Visit Radhanagar early or late, because mid-day is hot. Radhanagar Beach is the main stop. Elephant Beach is the water-sports side, with snorkelling and boat access, and the Elephant Beach guide explains how to pick your slot. Leave one slot for Kalapathar's sunrise if you are an early riser.
Day 4: Neil Island
Take a late-morning ferry to Neil. It is smaller, slower and quieter. The natural bridge at low tide, Bharatpur Beach and the sunset at Laxmanpur are the sights. Read the Neil Island guide for how to time them with the tide.

Aberdeen Bazaar, the main market street of Port Blair.
Day 5: Back to Port Blair
Take the morning ferry back and keep the afternoon for Ross Island or Chidiya Tapu, depending on the ferry time. If you want a final sunset, the Chidiya Tapu guide is a good fit.
Day 6: Departure
Flights from Port Blair usually leave in the morning or midday, so plan to be at the airport early. Do not schedule an island ferry the same day as a flight.
Ferries: what to build in
The ferry is the weak point of the plan.
Book early. Private catamarans and government ferries sell out in peak season. Book the ferries when you book the trip.
Leave a buffer. Weather can cancel sailings. Do not place a ferry on the last day before a flight.
Allow half a day. A one-way crossing with check-in and transfers takes most of a morning.
Our Andaman ferry guide goes through the operators and the booking steps.
What to cut or add
Short on time: drop Neil and keep four nights, with three on Havelock. Havelock has most of the beaches.
More time: add a night on Neil, or a day at Baratang or North Bay near Port Blair.
Diving: add a Havelock day. See the first scuba dive guide.
Honeymoon: keep the plan as it is, with slower mornings. The honeymoon itinerary guide has the changes.
When to go
October to May is the main season, with the best sea conditions from November to March. The monsoon, from June to September, is wet and ferries may be cancelled. See the best time to visit Andaman guide for the full year.
How we would plan it
Use stays that suit each island: a resort on Havelock with beach access, a small place on Neil, and a hotel near the harbour in Port Blair for the bookend nights. Our Andaman Island Hopper itinerary follows this pattern, and the Andaman Classic Highlights journey plans the ferries and transfers.
