About This Journey

Andaman Photography Expedition — Luxury

The same seven-night, three-island circuit, read through a photographer's schedule. Port Blair's Cellular Jail is as much about the Light and Sound Show's projected history on old brick as the building itself. Havelock gives you two very different kinds of light: Radhanagar Beach's long west-facing sunset, and the close, textured reef work at Elephant Beach, where a housing and a patient guide make the difference.

Neil Island slows the trip down again, on purpose. The Natural Bridge is only reachable at low tide, across rock and tidepool, which makes the timing itself part of the shot — check the tide table before you plan your morning. The trip closes at Corbyn's Cove, an easy, low-pressure last frame before the flight home.

  1. 01

    Sunset light at Radhanagar Beach

Radhanagar faces west, so the last hour before dark is the frame most people remember. The itinerary keeps that hour free rather than scheduling around it.

  2. 02

    Reef photography at Elephant Beach

The coral at Elephant Beach starts close to shore, in shallow, well-lit water. A snorkel and an underwater housing cover most of it; a discover-scuba add-on can be arranged on request for divers who want more depth.

  3. 03

The Natural Bridge, timed to the tide

Neil Island's coral arch — locals call it Howrah Bridge — is only crossable at low tide. Your trip designer times this stop against the tide table, not the clock.

  4. 04

    Colonial architecture at Cellular Jail

The Light and Sound Show plays across the jail's old brick corridors after dark, a genuinely different subject from the same building by day.

6 of your 8days — the full itinerary follows below. Scroll to travel the route.

Day 2 · Port Blair → Havelock Island

Port Blair to Havelock Island — Ferry Crossing

A private ferry crossing to Havelock Island, officially renamed Swaraj Dweep. The trip takes around ninety minutes across open water. Most visitors still use the old name. Check in by early afternoon. The rest of the day is free to settle into the island's slower pace before tomorrow's beach and reef days.

Day 3 · Havelock Island

Radhanagar Beach — Once Named Asia's Best

A full day at Radhanagar Beach, on Havelock's western shore. Time magazine named it Asia's best beach in 2004, and it has kept its Blue Flag certification for cleanliness and safety since. The sand runs pale and fine, backed by dense island forest that stays green right down to the shoreline. Late afternoon is the best time to be here, as the light turns gold before sunset over the water.

Clear turquoise water over a sandy island spit at Jolly Buoy Island, Andaman Islands

Day 4 · Havelock Island

Elephant Beach — Snorkeling & Reef Diving

A boat ride to Elephant Beach, reachable only by water — there's no road in. The reef just offshore is one of the healthiest in the Andamans, with clear, shallow water that suits first-time snorkellers as well as certified divers. Boat operators provide snorkeling gear as part of the trip. The afternoon is left free for the beach itself, generally quieter than Radhanagar.

Day 5 · Havelock Island → Neil Island

Havelock to Neil Island — Ferry Crossing

A short ferry hop south to Neil Island, renamed Shaheed Dweep in 2018 in honour of India's freedom fighters, taking about an hour. It's the smallest and quietest of the three main islands on this route. Check in by midday, leaving the afternoon free to reach Laxmanpur Beach in time for sunset.

Day 6 · Neil Island

Neil Island — Natural Bridge & Bharatpur Beach

Morning at the Natural Bridge, a limestone rock arch carved by the sea, also known locally as Howrah Bridge. It's best seen at low tide, when the surrounding rock pools are exposed. Bharatpur Beach fills the rest of the day — shallow, calm water that makes it one of the easiest beaches on the islands for swimming. Neil Island has no real nightlife, which is exactly the point after the busier stops earlier in the trip.

Day 7 · Neil Island → Port Blair

Neil Island to Port Blair

A ferry back to Port Blair, roughly two hours via Havelock. You'll arrive in the early afternoon. The rest of the day is unscheduled. It's a good chance to revisit Cellular Jail's museum galleries at a slower pace, or simply rest before the final day.

Arrival in Port Blair — Cellular Jail & Light and Sound Show

Private airport pickup on arrival in Port Blair, the Andaman Islands' capital. The afternoon centres on Cellular Jail. It was built between 1896 and 1906 to hold India's freedom fighters in solitary cells. It's known as Kala Pani, or black water. Today it stands as a national memorial. Evening brings the jail's Light and Sound show, telling that history after dark. Then it's off to your hotel for the night.

Frequently Asked

Before You Book

Does the itinerary account for golden-hour timing?

Yes — Radhanagar Beach and the Natural Bridge crossing are both built around light and tide rather than a fixed clock, and your trip designer can adjust further once dates are confirmed.

Is underwater photography gear provided?

No — bring your own housing or a waterproof camera. Snorkel and mask are arranged locally at Elephant Beach; a diving add-on with an instructor can be arranged on request.
