One night in Agra
The Oberoi Amarvilas
The Oberoi Amarvilas sits 600m from the Taj Mahal, with unrestricted views from every room and Mughal-inspired architecture.

About This Journey
The fastest honest way to see the Taj Mahal properly: one night in Agra, timed so you're at the monument for sunrise rather than arriving mid-morning with everyone else. You drive out from Delhi on the Yamuna Expressway, spend the evening and night in Agra, then give the whole of day two to the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort.
There's no rush to fit the Taj into a single long day from Delhi and back — staying overnight means sunrise at the monument is simple, not a 3am departure. Agra Fort follows the same morning, a short distance from the Taj itself, before the drive back to Delhi.
Staying overnight in Agra puts you at the Taj Mahal's gates for sunrise without the alternative: leaving Delhi in the middle of the night to make the same window on a day trip.
Agra Fort sits a short distance from the Taj Mahal, and day two covers both before the drive back to Delhi — a fuller morning than most single-day Taj trips manage.
The luxury package stays at The Oberoi Amarvilas, close enough to the Taj Mahal for some rooms to face it directly. The premium package stays at Trident, Agra, a short drive away.
Chapter Two — Where You'll Stay
Handpicked along your own route — not a hotel chain repeated city to city.

Chapter Four — The Full Itinerary
Every day, start to finish — including the transfers the day-by-day chapter above skipped.

Delhi → Agra
The drive to Agra runs about 165 kilometres down the Yamuna Expressway and takes three to three and a half hours. It is flat, fast and unremarkable, which is the point — it replaced a full day on the old road. You reach Agra by early afternoon. The rest of the day is Agra Fort, in the long light, with the Taj Mahal visible downriver from its marble balconies — a first sight of it before tomorrow's sunrise.

Agra
The gates open at first light, and the first hour is the coolest, the quietest and the best for photographs, as the marble shifts from grey to pink to white. A private guide handles the tickets and the queue. Back to the hotel for breakfast. The rest of the morning is Agra Fort, Akbar's red sandstone citadel, including the rooms where Aurangzeb held his father prisoner within sight of the Taj. The Taj is closed on Fridays.
