First, 2 nights in Guwahati
Vivanta Guwahati
A Taj-group five-star on the eastern edge of Guwahati — Assamese-inspired rooms, a spa and a rooftop, on the road toward Kaziranga.

About This Journey
This five-night route is Kaziranga's wildlife safari at full length: Pobitora as a day trip from Guwahati, then two full days inside Kaziranga itself — a dawn elephant safari and afternoon jeep drive, followed by a full day working two separate ranges of the park.
Where the birding-focused version of this route leans on species variety, this one is built for straightforward wildlife volume — rhino, elephant, wild buffalo and the grassland habitat that supports them, covered from two different reserves in a single short trip.
Pobitora's dense, compact sanctuary and Kaziranga's much larger ranges give a real sense of scale — the same species, two very different landscapes, within five nights.
Beyond the dawn elephant safari and afternoon jeep drive, an additional full day covers two separate ranges of the park, maximising the wildlife ground covered on a short itinerary.
At the luxury tier, the Diphlu River Lodge sits close to Kaziranga's boundary; at the premium tier, IORA – The Retreat is positioned near the park gates — both chosen for proximity over city convenience.
Chapter Two — Where You'll Stay
Handpicked along your own route — not a hotel chain repeated city to city.

First, 2 nights in Guwahati
A Taj-group five-star on the eastern edge of Guwahati — Assamese-inspired rooms, a spa and a rooftop, on the road toward Kaziranga.

Finally, 3 nights in Kaziranga
A tea-garden resort at Kohora by Kaziranga's Central Range gate — an outdoor pool, a spa, resident naturalists, and the shortest drive to the morning safari.
Chapter Three — Day by Day
4 of your 6days — the full itinerary follows below. Scroll to travel the route.

Day 2 · Guwahati
An early start east from Guwahati, about ninety minutes, to the Pobitora sanctuary. It is small, under forty square kilometres, and it has the densest one-horned rhino population in the world. A jeep safari of an hour or two on the grassland tracks almost always finds several rhinos in the open, along with wild buffalo and a great many water birds. Back in Guwahati by early afternoon, with time for the river or the museum. It is a strong rhino day for anyone not going on to Kaziranga.

Day 3 · Guwahati → Kaziranga
The drive east follows the south bank of the Brahmaputra for about two hundred kilometres and five hours, through paddy fields, tea gardens and small towns, with the hills of Meghalaya away to the south. There are stops for tea and for lunch on the way. You reach the lodges at Kohora, just outside the park's Central Range gate, in the afternoon, with time to settle in and meet the naturalist before dark.

Day 4 · Kaziranga
The elephant safari goes out at first light from Kohora or Bagori, for about an hour, walking through grass that is often higher than a jeep. This is where the rhinos feed, so it is the closest you will get to one. The mist lifts during the ride. Back for breakfast, then a slow middle of the day. The afternoon is a jeep safari of about three hours through the Central Range, for rhino, wild elephant, swamp deer and buffalo, and the chance of a tiger in the grass.

Day 5 · Kaziranga
A deeper day in the park, for travellers with the time. A morning jeep safari in the Western Range at Bagori, which has open country and high rhino numbers. The middle of the day at the orchid park, which grows hundreds of the region's orchid species and puts on Assamese folk dance. An afternoon safari in the Eastern Range at Agaratoli, the quietest range, with more water, more birds and a good chance of otters and fishing eagles. Two ranges in a day shows how different parts of the same park can be.
Chapter Four — The Full Itinerary
Every day, start to finish — including the transfers the day-by-day chapter above skipped.

Guwahati
You land at Guwahati, the hub for the whole northeast. The city sits where the Brahmaputra narrows between hills, and the river is the thing to see first. In the late afternoon a cruise boat runs out onto the water for the sunset, past Umananda island and under the temple hill, usually with tea or a meal and a short set of Assamese music. It is an easy way to arrive and get the shape of the place.

Guwahati
A last morning in the city before the flight out. If there is time, a final hour on the river, a visit to the Assam State Museum, or the silk shops for Assam's own muga and eri weaves. Guwahati's airport connects to Delhi, Kolkata and the rest of the northeast, so onward plans are straightforward.

The ground covered — Pobitora, then two days at Kaziranga — is identical; this version is framed around general wildlife safari (rhino, elephant, buffalo) rather than species-level birding.
Jeep safaris inside Kaziranga follow the park's standard permit system, which can mean sharing a vehicle with a small number of other visitors on some drives — a private vehicle can be requested where the park allows it.
