2 nights in Agra
Trident, Agra
A low-rise garden hotel on Fatehabad Road, under 10 minutes from the Taj Mahal — Mughal-style courtyards, a pool and an Ayurvedic spa. The premium Agra stay.

About This Journey
The same three-day route through Agra and Fatehpur Sikri, timed and paced for anyone travelling with a camera. Light is the whole point here — the Taj Mahal at sunrise, the sandstone of Fatehpur Sikri under a strong midday sun, and the fine marble screens of the Baby Taj, which reward a slow, close look rather than a passing glance.
Your driver-guide builds the day around arrival times rather than convenience, which means being at the Taj Mahal's gates before sunrise on day two, when the marble runs through shades of pink and gold as the light changes. Day three's Fatehpur Sikri, built entirely from red sandstone, photographs very differently — strong shapes and long shadows rather than the Taj's soft palette — and the Baby Taj's pierced marble jali screens are worth real time on their own.
Day two's early arrival is built around photography as much as crowd avoidance — the marble shifts through pink and gold tones as the sun rises, a window that closes within an hour or so.
Where the Taj is white marble, Fatehpur Sikri is built from red sandstone — strong geometry and long shadows, especially in the lower, harder light of morning or late afternoon.
Itmad-ud-Daulah's tomb is smaller than the Taj Mahal but its pierced marble jali work and inlay reward slow, close attention — the kind day two's schedule doesn't leave room for at the main monument itself.
The luxury package stays at The Oberoi Amarvilas, where several rooms face the Taj Mahal directly — useful for anyone who wants the monument in changing light beyond the two scheduled visits.
Chapter Two — Where You'll Stay

Chapter Three — Day by Day
1 of your 3days — the full itinerary follows below. Scroll to travel the route.

Day 2 · Agra
The gates open at first light, and the first hour is the coolest, the quietest and the best for photographs, as the marble shifts from grey to pink to white. A private guide handles the tickets and the queue. Back to the hotel for breakfast. The rest of the morning is Agra Fort, Akbar's red sandstone citadel, including the rooms where Aurangzeb held his father prisoner within sight of the Taj. The Taj is closed on Fridays.
Chapter Four — The Full Itinerary
Every day, start to finish — including the transfers the day-by-day chapter above skipped.

Delhi → Agra
The drive to Agra runs about 165 kilometres down the Yamuna Expressway and takes three to three and a half hours. It is flat, fast and unremarkable, which is the point — it replaced a full day on the old road. You reach Agra by early afternoon. The rest of the day is Agra Fort, in the long light, with the Taj Mahal visible downriver from its marble balconies — a first sight of it before tomorrow's sunrise.

Agra
A morning drive out to Fatehpur Sikri, Akbar's capital of 1571, abandoned within twenty years and almost untouched since. The palaces, the great mosque and the fifty-four-metre Buland Darwaza all stand complete. Back in Agra, the afternoon is Itimad-ud-Daulah, the small marble tomb on the river that people call the Baby Taj, and then Mehtab Bagh across the water for the Taj at sunset, framed at the end of the garden with no crowds.

The route is already built around sunrise at the Taj Mahal and the stronger midday light at Fatehpur Sikri. Tell your trip designer if you want to push a visit earlier or later, and we'll see what the monuments' access hours allow.
Tripods and large equipment are generally restricted at the Taj Mahal; a handheld camera is the reliable option. Your guide can confirm the current rules on arrival.
