Munnar in 2 Days: Tea Estates, Eravikulam and Top Station
A 2-day Munnar itinerary: Eravikulam National Park, tea estates and the tea museum, Top Station and Mattupetty, with timings, the best order and what to skip.

Munnar is a place for slow days, but two days is enough to see its best parts. The sights fall into two directions from the town: north towards Eravikulam and the high tea country, and east towards Top Station and the Tamil Nadu border.
This plan groups them so you are not doubling back.

The high slopes of Eravikulam.
Day | Morning | Afternoon |
|---|---|---|
1 | Eravikulam National Park | Tea museum and a tea estate walk |
2 | Top Station sunrise or morning | Mattupetty Dam and Echo Point |
Day 1: Eravikulam and the estates
Start early at Eravikulam, home of the Nilgiri tahr. The park runs on a quota system, so arrive early and check timings and tickets. Allow two to three hours. See our Eravikulam guide.
After lunch, visit the tea museum and walk through an estate. A guided walk explains how the leaf is picked and processed. Tea gardens are privately owned, so ask your hotel which are open to visitors.
Day 2: Top Station and the lakes
Leave early for Top Station, about 32 km from Munnar, for the best light and views. See the Top Station guide.
On the way back, stop at Mattupetty Dam and Echo Point, which are easy and pleasant afternoon visits. Finish with a quiet walk or tea at your hotel.
Getting around
A car with a driver is the easiest way. Local jeeps are an option for Top Station and the rougher roads. Autos work within the town.
What to skip
Crowded viewpoints: a few popular points get tour-bus traffic by midday. Go early.
Boating at Mattupetty: optional, and not essential.
A third day of sightseeing: Munnar is for slowing down, so a rest day is a better choice.
Where to stay
Choose a stay on an estate or a ridge with a valley view, away from the busy town centre. See our tea estate stay guide.
How it fits a Kerala trip
Munnar is usually the second stop after Kochi. See the Kochi to Munnar guide, the Kerala 6-day itinerary and the Kerala honeymoon guide.
Best season
September to March. Mornings can be misty and cool throughout the year. See the month-by-month guide.
