First, one night in Guwahati
Radisson Blu Hotel, Guwahati
A modern five-star on the Brahmaputra bank in Guwahati — river-view rooms, an outdoor pool and a spa, minutes from Kamakhya and the road to Kaziranga.

About This Journey
Three nights is enough to pair Assam's two most accessible experiences: an evening on the Brahmaputra in Guwahati and a dawn elephant safari at Kaziranga. The trip opens by arriving into Guwahati as the river catches the last light, then moves east to Kaziranga for the safari and an afternoon jeep drive, before returning to Guwahati to depart.
It's built as a genuine short break rather than a compressed version of the longer circuits — no old-city touring, no tea country, just the river city and the park, back to back. For a long weekend out of Guwahati or a add-on to a wider India trip, this is the fastest way into Kaziranga.
Arriving into Guwahati in the late afternoon puts the Brahmaputra at its most atmospheric on day one, before the trip even reaches Kaziranga.
A dawn elephant safari followed by an afternoon jeep drive covers Kaziranga's core wildlife experience within a single full day at the park.
With only Guwahati and Kaziranga on the itinerary, transfers are kept to a minimum — well suited to a long weekend rather than a full Assam circuit.
Chapter Two — Where You'll Stay
Handpicked along your own route — not a hotel chain repeated city to city.

First, one night in Guwahati
A modern five-star on the Brahmaputra bank in Guwahati — river-view rooms, an outdoor pool and a spa, minutes from Kamakhya and the road to Kaziranga.

Finally, 2 nights in Kaziranga
A small eco-lodge of stilted bamboo cottages on the Diphlu River at Kaziranga — private river decks, resident naturalists, and every safari arranged.
Chapter Three — Day by Day
2 of your 4days — the full itinerary follows below. Scroll to travel the route.

Day 2 · Guwahati → Kaziranga
The drive east follows the south bank of the Brahmaputra for about two hundred kilometres and five hours, through paddy fields, tea gardens and small towns, with the hills of Meghalaya away to the south. There are stops for tea and for lunch on the way. You reach the lodges at Kohora, just outside the park's Central Range gate, in the afternoon, with time to settle in and meet the naturalist before dark.

Day 3 · Kaziranga
The elephant safari goes out at first light from Kohora or Bagori, for about an hour, walking through grass that is often higher than a jeep. This is where the rhinos feed, so it is the closest you will get to one. The mist lifts during the ride. Back for breakfast, then a slow middle of the day. The afternoon is a jeep safari of about three hours through the Central Range, for rhino, wild elephant, swamp deer and buffalo, and the chance of a tiger in the grass.
Chapter Four — The Full Itinerary
Every day, start to finish — including the transfers the day-by-day chapter above skipped.

Guwahati
You land at Guwahati, the hub for the whole northeast. The city sits where the Brahmaputra narrows between hills, and the river is the thing to see first. In the late afternoon a cruise boat runs out onto the water for the sunset, past Umananda island and under the temple hill, usually with tea or a meal and a short set of Assamese music. It is an easy way to arrive and get the shape of the place.

Guwahati
A last morning in the city before the flight out. If there is time, a final hour on the river, a visit to the Assam State Museum, or the silk shops for Assam's own muga and eri weaves. Guwahati's airport connects to Delhi, Kolkata and the rest of the northeast, so onward plans are straightforward.

It's enough for the park's signature dawn elephant safari and an afternoon jeep drive across one range — a genuine introduction rather than a full multi-range exploration, which longer Assam itineraries cover instead.
This short-break version keeps Guwahati to the arrival evening by the Brahmaputra; temple and old-city visits are part of Assam's longer itineraries instead.
