Nashik city and its river waterfront in Maharashtra

Overview

Nashik At A Glance

Nashik, Maharashtra, is a sacred river city on the Godavari and a gateway to wine country. Pilgrims and wine lovers both come here. It is one of the few places in India where those two worlds meet. The river is the soul of the old town. Ghats and temples line the Panchavati quarter. Tradition links this stretch to episodes of the Ramayana. Nashik is also one of the cities that hosts the Kumbh Mela, which returns about every twelve years. Beyond the ghats lie caves and hills. The Pandavleni caves sit on a hilltop above the city. Trimbakeshwar, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, is a short drive away. Nashik's vineyards, including Sula, are close to town. The city is roughly 165 km from Mumbai, around four hours by road. Shirdi lies about 90 km to the east. We link these stops into one smooth circuit. Confirm drive times locally.
