First, 3 nights in Gangtok
MAYFAIR Spa Resort & Casino, Gangtok
A 48-acre forest resort below Gangtok — carved-wood villas with valley views, an award-winning spa, a heated pool and a casino, minutes from MG Marg.

About This Journey
Built specifically for a first visit to Sikkim, this six-day route keeps the pace gentle and the geography simple: Gangtok, a day trip to Tsomgo Lake, then south to Ravangla and Pelling before flying out of Bagdogra. Nothing requires prior altitude experience or a long overland push into the state's northern valleys.
Each stop introduces one clear idea of what Sikkim is — Gangtok's Buddhist monasteries and modern hill-town life, the high-altitude drama of Tsomgo Lake, and Pelling's close-up view of Kanchenjunga — rather than trying to cover everything the state offers in one trip.
Three real bases across five nights — Gangtok, Ravangla, Pelling — each with enough time to settle in before moving on, a deliberately unhurried structure for a first trip.
The single day trip out to Tsomgo Lake on the border road gives a taste of high-altitude Sikkim without committing the whole trip to it, ideal for a first visit.
Gangtok's pedestrian-only MG Marg is an easy, low-effort way to get a feel for the town after a day of sightseeing — cafes, shops, and mountain air.
The trip's final base puts you face to face with Kanchenjunga, the world's third-highest peak, a memorable note to end a first Sikkim trip on.
Chapter Two — Where You'll Stay
Handpicked along your own route — not a hotel chain repeated city to city.

First, 3 nights in Gangtok
A 48-acre forest resort below Gangtok — carved-wood villas with valley views, an award-winning spa, a heated pool and a casino, minutes from MG Marg.

Next, one night in Ravangla
A small Yangthang Heritage hotel below Ravangla with Kanchenjunga-view rooms — minutes from Buddha Park, short drives to Ralang and the Temi tea garden.

Finally, one night in Pelling
A former royal guest house on a ridge below Pemayangtse in Pelling — Bhutanese-style rooms with Kanchenjunga views and sunrise on the snow.
Chapter Three — Day by Day
4 of your 6days — the full itinerary follows below. Scroll to travel the route.

Day 2 · Gangtok
A full day around the capital. Rumtek first, the largest monastery in Sikkim and the Karmapa's seat, on a hill facing the town. Then the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, with one of the best collections of Tibetan texts and art outside Tibet, and the nearby Do-drul chorten. The afternoon takes in the Enchey monastery above the town, the ropeway across the ridge, and time on MG Marg and in the Lal Bazar market.

Day 3 · Gangtok
An early start east on the old Silk Road, with the permit arranged the day before. Tsomgo Lake sits at three thousand seven hundred and eighty metres, a glacial lake ringed by bare mountains, with decorated yaks on the shore. Nearby is the Baba Mandir, a shrine the army keeps for a soldier said to still watch the border. Indian nationals can continue to the Nathu La pass itself. The day is at altitude and the weather turns fast, so it goes early and stays flexible.

Day 4 · Gangtok → Ravangla
A drive south and west of about four hours, crossing the Teesta and climbing into South Sikkim. The stop on the way is Namchi: the forty-five-metre statue of Guru Padmasambhava on Samdruptse hill, and the Char Dham complex at Solophok, where the four corner temples of India are rebuilt at full size around a statue of Shiva. Both sit on hilltops with wide views. You reach Ravangla, on its ridge facing Kanchenjunga, by evening.

Day 5 · Ravangla → Pelling
A drive of about three hours west along the ridges, through forest and small villages, with Kanchenjunga ahead most of the way on a clear day. There is time to stop at a viewpoint or a roadside monastery. You reach Pelling, in the far west of the state, by early afternoon, and check in with the mountains filling the windows. If the sky is clear, the sunset light on the snow from the hotel lawn is worth waiting for.
Chapter Four — The Full Itinerary
Every day, start to finish — including the transfers the day-by-day chapter above skipped.

Gangtok
The drive up from Bagdogra airport or the New Jalpaiguri railhead takes about four to five hours, climbing out of the Bengal tea plains and up the Teesta gorge into Sikkim. Foreign visitors have their Sikkim permit checked at Rangpo on the way in. You reach Gangtok in the afternoon. The evening is for MG Marg, the traffic-free central avenue, where the town comes out to walk and the cafes fill up.

Pelling
The road down from Pelling to Bagdogra airport takes about five hours, losing height steadily through forest, then tea gardens, then the heat of the plains. There is a last long view back at the mountains from the higher bends. For a train instead, New Jalpaiguri is a little further. The drive is timed to the flight, so an afternoon or evening departure works best from the west of the state.

Yes — this is designed as an entry point. Gangtok and Pelling sit at moderate elevation, and the one high-altitude day, to Tsomgo Lake, is a single excursion rather than a multi-day push into remote valleys.
Sightseeing is largely by private vehicle with short walks at each stop — the monasteries, the ropeway, MG Marg, Tsomgo Lake's shoreline. No trekking is built into this itinerary.
